We drove from the east end of the park to the west end today. Left at 8 am and didn't get back to camp until 6:30 pm. It's a long drive from one end to the other plus stopping at the viewpoints and hunting for animals.

Here are some scenic views of the park.




The Colorado River begins on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park and flows all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. The headwaters are about 5 miles north of where this picture was taken.


Holzwarth Trout Lodge Historic Site
John Holzwarth Sr. homesteaded on the west side of the park in 1917. Eventually he built cabins and a lodge and people came to enjoy their hospitality. The lodge is gone but many of the cabins are still in place.
