Drove into the park around 5 pm this evening to watch the elk. There were about 100 to 150 elk all over the meadow and about 50+ cars along the highway. This definitely was an "elk jam". The bulls were bugling almost constantly and they make a very high pitched sound, almost like a whistle.

There were also 3 coyotes in the meadow looking for food. One was stalking a badger and twice went for it but the badger was quicker and dove in its hole. Then the badger would come back out and the two would just stare at each other. It was quite a stand-off and when we left at 7 pm they were still staring each other down. It was quite a show.
